Former Canadian Haitian world champion, Jean Pascal, surprised everyone, but not himself, by defeating American Marcus Browne with an eight-round decision to conquer the Silver title of the World Boxing Council at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Browne was favorite but could not cope with the strength plus power of the experienced, sturdy veteran who sent him to the canvas once in the fourth round and twice in the seventh.
Browne was cut over the left eye by an accidental clash of heads in the eighth round, and for that reason the fight was stopped and went to the cards. The three judges Glenn Feldman, Julie Lederman and Steve Weisfeld, scored the fight identically 75-74, for Pascal.
