Virna Jandiroba to defend strawweight title vs. Janaisa Morandin at Invicta FC 31

Virna Jandiroba will put her strawweight championship and undefeated record on the line atInvicta FC 31.

The recently crowned 115-pound champion defends her title against fellow Brazilian Janaisa Morandin (10-1) in the main event of the Sept. 1 show at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., officials announced Thursday.

Jandiroba won a split decision against Mizouki Inoue at Invicta FC 28 this past March to capture the vacant strawweight title. The 30-year-old submission specialist is 2-0 since joining the promotion and 13-0 overall as a professional with 10 of her wins coming by way of tap out.

Morandin, 23, dropped a unanimous decision to former Invicta champion Livia Renata Souza in her debut last August, but bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Kinberly Novaes the following December. Prior to joining Invicta, “Evil Princess” was undefeated in nine pro bouts with five of those victories coming by way of KO/TKO.

Also announced for Sept. 1, former UFC fighter Pearl Gonzalez (8-3) looks to continue her winning ways after defeating her first two opponents in the Invicta cage, Barbara Acioly and Kali Robbins. She takes on Daiane Firmino (9-2) in the flyweight co-main event.

Five other bouts were made official Thursday, with one more expected to be added at a later date.
