Vladimir Shishkin-DeAndre Ware headlines August 23rd ShoBox card

Boxing fans will get some Friday action on August 23rd courtesy of Showtime, as super middleweight prospect Vladimir Shishkin is set to face network veteran DeAndre Ware in the headlining bout of a Broken Arrow, Oklahoma ShoBox card.

Shishkin (8-0, 5 KO), the latest Eastern European up-and-comer from Salita Promotions, enjoyed an extensive and successful amateur career before making his pro debut in 2016. This will be his first appearance outside of Europe and just his second outside of Russia itself.

Here he is demolishing former light heavyweight title challenger Nadjib Mohammedi last October.

This will be Ware’s (13-1-2, 8 KO) second consecutive ShoBox headliner. The Toledo-based “Axeman” narrowly edged then-unbeaten Ronald Ellis last February in his first fight since a unanimous decision loss to Cem Killic on the Devin Haney-Juan Carlos Burgos undercard the previous September.

God, there are so many Cold War references to be made; it’s America vs. Russia in a place called Broken Arrow. Showtime marketing team, get on that.
