Walter Kautondokwa replaces Billy Joe Saunders in fight with Demetrius Andrade

Here’s a photo of Andrade, because we have no licensed photos of Kautondokwa.

Little-known Namibian fighter Walter Kautondokwa (17-0, 16 KOs) has officially been named as the replacement opponent for Demetrius Andrade, who will go on with his Oct. 20th fight in the wake of WBO titleholder Billy Joe Saunders getting pulled for a failed drug test.

Kautondokwa, 33, has fought only once outside of his native country and that was last year when he went to Ghana to stop Obodai Sai. This fight against Andrade will be his first in the U.S. and on a much bigger platform than he’s used to fighting on.

But despite being a late replacement Kautondokwa tells Sky Sports that he’s fully prepared and confident about his chances in this fight, saying that he plans on knocking out Andrade next weekend on DAZN.

“This is a huge opportunity for me and one I will take with both hands,” said Kautondokwa.

“I’ve earned my spot as the number two challenger in the division and I fear no man – Demetrius is a great fighter, but I know that I can KO any 160-pounder in the world, and that includes Andrade.”

Kautondokwa goes on to say that Andrade has spent his training camp preparing for Saunders, a technical fighter without much pop in his punches, and thus he believes he’s going to be a nightmare match-up for Andrade.

In all honestly it’s rather hard to assess what kind of challenge Kautondokwa could realistically pose to Andrade because he’s never fought a boxer of this caliber before — but we’ll find out for sure, one way or the other, on fight night.
