WBC Silver Flyweight champion Muhammad Waseem (5-0, 3 KOs) of Pakistan retained his title by twelve round unanimous decision over WBC #15 ranked Giemel Megramo (17-1, 13 KOs) of the Philippines on Sunday afternoon at the Gwanakgu Hall in Seoul, South Korea. The fight was an all-out war from round one through round twelve with numerous furious exchanges throughout. Waseem officially secured the victory by winning the 12th and final round on all three judges scorecards. The official scores were 114-113 twice and 117-110 all in favor to WBC #9 ranked Waseem.
Waseem’s promoter Andy Kim is now headed to the December WBC convention in South Florida with world title fight aspirations for Waseem. “Waseem showed what he was made of today. He fought a quality young undefeated world ranked fighter in Megramo, who pushed him to the max. Waseem successfully stood up to the challenge and I feel he showed he’s ready for the world championship level,” said Kim.
