The World Boxing Association and the International Association of Sports Journalists (AIPS in Italian) signed an important agreement to work together during this 2017 and in the coming days will extend this union until 2018. The pact was held on Wednesday, July 12th, during the 24th AIPS America Congress, that took place in Cali, Colombia.
The intention of this union is to strengthen sports journalism, especially Boxing. For this reason, the press will have greater access to information and, in the different events that the AIPS performs, especially AIPS America, boxing forums will be held for sports journalists to understand how professional boxing works.
This agreement was well received by AIPS President, Gianni Merlo, and Gabriel Cazenave, AIPS America President, who stressed the importance of following Boxing: “It is a pleasure to share with the President of the WBA (Gilberto Jesus Mendoza), who has given us interesting information on boxing”, said Cazenave, and gavethe WBA President an acknowledgement as a symbol of this new union.
For his part, Merlo expressed his satisfaction to be able to work hand in hand with the WBA and to be able to help spread a discipline as important as boxing; while Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, WBA President, said: “We owe debt to journalists, we must be closer to them and support them so they can do their work the best they can”.
In this way, the AIPS and the WBA will work hand in hand to carry out different events that complement the learning of journalists.
