The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championship committee ordered the negotiations for the mandatory bout between Super bantam Champion Brandon Figueroa and his mandatory challenger Ronny Rios.
The pioneer sanctioning body, announced it through a press release, informing both sides about the bout, which negotiations will have a 30 days lapse from March 3rd.
According to C.11 championship rule, the champion must face the mandatory challenger within 9 months after winning the title. Figueroa won it on April 20th 2019, which means the timeframe ended on January 19.
The committee decision is also supported by the C.13 Rule, which states that the champion can´t face a different opponent from the mandatory challenger within the 60 days after finishing the deadline.
