The WBA Championships Committee has ordered its lightweight world champion unbeaten Gervonta “Tank” Davis, one of Floyd’s star boxers, to defend belt against mandatory challenger Rolando Romero next.

The WBA has already sent official communication to the management of both fighters, who will have a period of 30 days to negotiate.

The negotiation period will expire on February 24.

The rules of the WBA give the right to the president of the pioneering sanctioning body and its championships Committee to define a champion’s mandatory period at their discretion.

In the case of the skilled Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the WBA granted a period of nine months to make his mandatory defense.

Since that period of time has already expired, the unbeaten Gervonta must next defend against the current mandatory challenger, who is Rolando Romero.

It will be a clash in which the two men do not seem to like each other at all.

During a previous presser “Tank” told Romero that he is not in his level and called him “crazy” for wearing fur coat in a temperature of 80 degrees. (see photo)

The entertaining fight had been previously set to happen, promoted by Floyd Mayweather. But Romero’s legal problems prevented him to challenge “Tank.”

Mexican tough boy “Pitbull” was a late-sub taking Romero’s place, giving “Tank” an exciting fight, a total a run for his money.

According to the WBA statement, the matchup between Davis and Romero marks another step forward in the WBA’s titles reduction plan.
