Thrilled to gain the autographs of former welterweight champion Pepino Cuevas, and current WBC light flyweight champion, Ibeth Zamora, fans flocked to the ribbon cutting ceremony, marking the inauguration of the First WBC Amateur Championship.
It was at the Polivalente Sports Facilities in Ixtapaluca, Estado de Mexico. The tournament itself is counting on the participation of more than 300 female and male fighters. There were two exhibition matches and 15 tournament bouts, with full observance of precautions plus safety requirements, including ambulance, paramedics and Ring Side Doctor.
Espartaco Boxing Union Leader, Carlos “Bondojo” Hernández, highlighted the importance of the World Boxing Council in fundamentally helping as well as cooperating to make this dream come true. “Mr. Sulaiman, has opened up a door for us, so we have a lot of confidence to develop this great tournament.”
During an emotional ceremony, firemen of the municipality conducted the Mexican flag Ceremony, to unfurl the boxing action, which was backed up by the full support of WBC Amateur enterprise plus endeavour.
