Jorge Linares from Venezuela this Saturday night, faces a tough and determined challenge against the English champion Anthony Crolla, at the Manchester Arena in evening to be broadcast live for Latin America by Combate Space and the winner will take home the glittering World Boxing Council Diamond belt.
Last May Crolla won with a brilliant knockout against Venezuelan Ismael Barroso, while in his previous bout defeated Darleys Perez with another KO.
In his return to the ring after nearly a year of absence, Linares faces one of the toughest fights of his career against a puncher who enjoys home advantage.
“The Golden Boy” Linares has won three world titles in different divisions: WBC featherweight, WBA super featherweight and WBC lightweight and has won his last four fights by KO.
Linares is currently WBC champion in recess, because an injury to his right hand, which caused the mandatory defense with Dejan Zlaticanin to suspended. Consequently, the WBC awarded Zlaticanin the possibility of winning the title. In June 2015 the Montenegrin beat Franklin Mamani and got the long awaited first world title for his country. So…the winner of Crolla-Linares will fight the absolute WBC champion Zlaticanin.
