The World Boxing Council is helping former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras who’s undergoing rehab.

The WBC temporarily suspended Carlos Cuadras,  saying he had not failed a performance enhancing drug test. But rather the issue reflects the alleged consumption of recreational substances.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman clarified: “Carlos Cuadras is in rehab, and he’s being looked after by the WBC, with both care and concern.  We are going to work together with Carlos, until he’s back in society and ready to get back into Boxing. We are supporting Carlos and praying that he gets well. He’s a great champion, a family man and he deserves the opportunity to be back in life.”

The WBC has helped other fighters to beat additions to alcohol and drugs.  The most famous example is Carlos Zarate, who was also treated in rehab.  He is now a top boxing trainer, tournament organizer, motivational speaker, author, and caring charity fund raiser.
