WBC LT. HEAVYWEIGHT STATUS

The lt. heavyweight division is unquestionably one of the most attractive ones of today.

WBC champion Adonis Stevenson will be making his mandatory title defense against silver champion Eleider Alvarez.

Due to the lack of activity for reasons out of control of the champion in the past 2 years, the WBC has ordered to have another mandatory title defense, which will be determined with a series of fights, which begin tomorrow.

There are three fights scheduled which will be part of the process:

July 15       Forum, Inglewood, California – WBC International Title
Joe Smith (US) WBC No. 3 (23-1-0, 19 KO’s) WBC International champion,

Vs.

Sullivan Barrera (Cuba) WBC No. 6 (19-1-0, 14 KO’s)

July 15       Uniondale, N. Y. – WBC Elimination bout
Marcus Browne (US) WBC No. 7 (19-0-0, 14 KO’s)

Vs.

Sean Monaghan (US) WBC No. 8 (28-0-0, 17 KO’s)

Aug. 19      NABF Lt. heavyweight Title

Oleksandr Gvozdyk (Ukraine) WBC No. 2 (13-0-0, 11 KO’S) NABF champion

Vs.

Craig Baker (US) WBC no rated (17-1-0, 13 KO’s)
Once these three fights take place, the WBC will confirm the final stage of this tournament depending on the results from these matches.
