Two-time former super middleweight world champion, and undefeated David “Red Flag” Benavidez, will fight former world champion, José Uzcategui, in a super middleweight elimination match of the World Boxing Council, on August 28 at the Phoenix Suns Arena, Arizona.

This will be the second fight back for Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) since he forfeited the WBC 168-pound world title on the scale in August of last year.
In his most recent bout, he defeated American Ronald Ellis by TKO in the eleventh round last March in Uncasville, Connecticut.

José Uzcategui (31-4, 26 KOs) reigned as IBF super-middleweight champion since March 2018, when he defeated former champion Andre Dirrel, before losing him by decision, to reigning champion Caleb Plant in 2019.

In his most recent fight, Uzcategui defeated Mexican Jaime Hernández by knockout in the second round last June.
The card, which is promoted by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), will be broadcast on Showtime.
