WBC Super middlewight world ranked number 6, Erik Skoglund (26-1, 12 KOs), who distinguished himself with a marvellous fight against Callum Smith as part of the Word Boxing Super Series tournament in September, was taken to the hospital after falling ill , following a sparring session in Nyköping, Sweden.
Erik was placed in an induced coma by doctors and then underwent surgery to remove a blot clot on the brain. Erik remains in a difficult but stable condition. The next few days will be absolutely critical for his recovery.
The entire World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaiman, send their best wishes and prayers for Erik’s recovery.
