A memorable, competitive lion hearted dust up, as Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk dethroned Latvian Mairis Briedis, to be crowned new World Boxing Council cruiserweight champion, at the Riga Arena in Latvia, in one of the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series tournament.
The victory propels Usyk to the final and he is now waiting for the winner of the match between Russian Murat Gassiev and Cuban Yunier Dorticós, on February 3rd in Sochi, Russia. The final will on May 11th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The World Boxing Council continues moving towards the 2000th title battle of its history. This great one was the 1,990 on the way towards that historic mark.
