Japanese 37-year-old veteran, current OPBF super-bantam champ and WBO #6 Hidenori Otake (31-2-3, 14 KOs) left for US today (Sunday) in order to have an ambitious shot at the WBO 122-pound belt against Isaac Dogboe (19-0, 13 KOs) of Ghana in Glendale, Arizona, this coming Saturday.
For Otake, it will be his second world title crack abroad as he, in 2014, failed to win the WBA title from Scott Quigg by a unanimous decision in Liverpool UK. Otake is a persistent infighter whose durability and stamina are his assets throughout his 12–year career. We hope Otake will show a good performance against the unbeaten Ghanaian, 23, who is making his initial defense since he dethroned Jessie Magdaleno via eleventh-round demolition in Philadelphia last April. Gambare (good luck)!
