Mexican native, Monserrat Alarcón was crowned as the new WBO Female World Flyweight Champion after defeating Japanese Nana Yoshikawa in a fight that took place in Osaka, Japan this April 28th.
This was the first defense of the Japanese fighter who had earned the title in a MD win back in October 2016, Alarcón however pulled the upset, she was declared the winner by Technical Decision after 7 rounds of action.
In the sixth round Alarcón suffered a deep cut over her left eye as a product of an accidental head clash, the fight was stopped in the seventh round and it went to the scorecards which showed: 62-70, 63-69 and 64-68 all in favor of Monserrat Alarcón.
