BOTH Danny Green and Kane Watts were full of smiles at today’s media weigh-in.
Watts (18-2, 11 KOs) and Green (34-5, 28 KOs) will meet tomorrow night at Hisense Arena in one of the most high-profile national title contests in recent memory, with a stacked undercard boasting a host of talented prospects.
“Look at the size of him,” quipped Green to the media at Crown Casino. “He’s won his last ex amount of fights by knockout, he’s got a big opportunity ahead. But I’ve got the runs on the board when it comes to experience,”
“I’m a far more experienced fighter and I’ve fought a better calibre of opponents, there’s no doubt about that,”
“Kane has got youth, size and a nothing to lose attitude which is very dangerous.”
The 34-year-old Watts is unbeaten in nine appearances since suffering his second career defeat to Daniel Ammann in 2013. His run of victories includes a concussive knockout over Emosi Solitua last August to lift the national title.
Despite appearing confident, there was a sense of modesty about Watts when quizzed on his training camp.
“Training camp has been a dream,” said Watts about his preparation for Green.
“I’ve got great people behind me and I’ve had awesome sparring leading up to it.”
