WBC heavyweight champion Deontay ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KOs) says his rematch with Tyson Fury (27-0-1, 19 KOs) is ready to be announced in the next weeks. Wilder doesn’t know the specific date or the location for the rematch. It doesn’t matter. Wilder, 32, says it’s going to be another excellent between him and the 6’9″ Fury.

The two of them fought to a 12 round draw last December in an exciting match at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Fury’s boxing fans still think he was robbed, but the closer reality is that he was lucky the fight wasn’t stopped when he was knocked down in the 12th round. The scores were 115-111 for Wilder, 114-112 for Fury, and 113-113. Boxing News 24 had Wilder winning the fight. Fury gave a game effort, but he fell apart in the championship rounds, and appeared to be unconscious after being knocked down in the 12th.

“It’ll be announced real soon, maybe in two weeks or so,” Wilder said to Fighthype about his rematch with Tyson Fury. “It’ll be announced, so we’re getting all the little things in order, and we’re going to make another epic fight.”

Wilder was hoping to fight IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in a unification fight, but his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing only offered a 60/40 split to the Alabama native. That split is just a small bump up fro the 67-33 split that former WBO champion Joseph Parker was given for a fight against Joshua. The problem is, Wilder wants a 50/50 split, and Hearn isn’t willing to give it to him. Hearn says that Wilder could get that split if he A. fights Joshua in the UK for the 60/40 split B. he beats Joshua in the first fight C. the ratings are high.

“Don’t listen to what Eddie [Hearn] says. It will come around,” Wilder said when told that Hearn thinks he’s ducking the Joshua fight. “It’s Wilder-Fury, that’s it.

Wilder wants the fight with Joshua, but he’s not going to accept a smaller split, and then still end up having to put himself in position where he’ll be at a disadvantage in fighting in the UK. Hearn will eventually have to make up his mind whether he wants to risk his golden goose getting plucked clean by Wilder. Boxing is a sport. Joshua has gotten a bad reputation for failing to fight Wilder and Luis Ortiz. If Hearn continues to match Joshua against the weaker heavyweights, then he’s no going to have much of a legacy when his boxing career is over with. Hearn likes to brag how Joshua has beaten the likes of 41-year-old Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Dillian Whyte, Charles Martin, Dominic Breazeale, Alexander Povetkin and Eric Molina. However, none of those guys have the the punching power of Wilder, and none of them has the World Boxing Council heavyweight title, which is arguably the most prestigious of all the titles.
