Joseph Parker has his own huge fight coming, as he’s scheduled to face Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight unification on March 31 in Wales, but the New Zealander had a moment to give his thoughts on Saturday’s fight between Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz, too, picking Wilder to come out on top and keep his WBC belt.
“My prediction is seeing Deontay Wilder coming out on top. But he has to be wary because Ortiz is dangerous in the first half of the fight. I think it’s a great fight for him. He’s one of the best fighters in the division and it’s a big, tough challenging fight for him at the right time. But I think Wilder will just have too much and he will be the one to come out on top.”
Parker (24-0, 18 KO) would in theory have the winner in mind should he upset Joshua (20-0, 20 KO) four weeks later in Cardiff.
He also gave his thoughts on the March 24 clash between Dillian Whyte and Lucas Browne:
“I might be leaning towards Lucas Browne, but Dillian Whyte’s a fighter who can cause a big upset as he’s a fighter who throws big punches and combinations. It’s a 50-50 fight for me.”
