Former Bellator champ Will Brooks would like to fight Edson Barboza next, and he has a location in mind.
Will Brooks is looking to enter the lightweight title mix immediately. The former Bellator lightweight champ made a successful UFC debut when he defeated Ross Pearson earlier this month, and now has a bigger target in mind – UFC on Fox 20 winner Edson Barboza. He took to social media to make the callout:
Barboza defeated Gilbert Melendez by unanimous decision in the co-main event of the Fox show last night. With that coming on the heels of a win over Anthony Pettis, Barboza looks to be in the mix for a possible title shot. Brooks of course just has the one UFC bout, but a win over Barboza would put him in a very good position.
Brooks currently sits at number 12 in the official UFC lightweight rankings, while Barboza is at 6. Barboza may move up on Monday when they new rankings come out though.
The Portland UFC event, which was announced last night, will go down October 1st at the Moda Center.
