RANDY “Razor” Petalcorin of General Santos City has vowed to be a world boxing champion again.

“The former world champion will be removed very soon. I will be world champion again in 2017,” said Petalcorin, a former interim WBA World light flyweight champion.

He is scheduled to fight again on December 4 in the main event of the “Brawl at the Mall: Return of Gensan’s Finest” at the Robinsons Mall in General Santos City against Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) champion Arnold Garde of Pres Roxas, North Cotabato for the vacant IBF Asia Pacific light flyweight title.

Sanman Promotions chief executive officer Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil said Petalcorion has started training back at the Sanman Gym last October and is now more inspired to fight since his wife Grace is already 4-months pregnant with their first baby.

Petalcorin said that he has overcome with his bad experience when he was robbed during his championship fight for the vacant WBC Silver flyweight crown against Omari Kimweri by a controversial split decision on April 15 at The Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Victoria, Australia.

“I needed time off from the robbery. I got discouraged but I’m moving on and I’m working twice harder because I will become a father next year,” said Petalcorin.

Petalcorin said that it was hard to forget that fight but he is now okay and stronger.

“I used that as my learning experience,” he said.

He thanked the Sanman Promotions headed by CEO Jim Claude Mananguil and co-manager Peter Maniatis for “all the support through ups and downs” and also for giving him another opportunity.

“Hopefully it’s all the way up now,” said Petalcorin, who said that he is still in the prime of his career.

“You will see a better Randy Petalcorin. Nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat mga sumusuporta sa akin lalo na yung mga fans. Randy Petalcorin is back!” he said.
