Jimmy Williams (14-0-1, 6 Ko’s) defended his WBC USNBC welterweight title by defeating John Rodriguez, Jr. (13-4, 5 KO’S) in Providence, Rhode Island, via a UD.
Williams took control early in the bout, with good quality boxing, knocking down his rival in the second round.
In the middle rounds Rodriguez attempted to up the tempo, but he was effectively countered by Williams, who continued the rest of the bout fighting with pinpoint accuracy .
The judges’ scores were 98-91, 97-92 and 96-93, all for Williams.
