Heavyweight contender Chazz “The Gentleman” Witherspoon (35-3, 27 KOs) is set to headline a historic night of Professional and amateur boxing at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, New Jersey on Saturday night. This will be the first actual New Jersey Pro-Am show in the last thirty years and also done by a female Promoter in Renee Aiken of Boss Lady Promotions. The Amateur portion will pit fighters from New York and New Jersey for the first annual Mayors cup. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Ike Williams Boxing Academy of Trenton, New Jersey. Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson will present the trophy to the winners.
Headlining the professional portion of the show will be ten round heavyweight contest featuring Chazz “Witherspoon against Carlos “Superman” Sandoval (9-10-1, 6 KOs). Witherspoon looks to continue his push for a world title shot. The heavy-handed Witherspoon has reeled off five straight victories since his failed attempt at the NABO title against Seth Mitchell. In his last bout on August 6th, Witherspoon needed only two rounds to finish Mike Marrone (21-5, 15 KOs).
Witherspoon will face probably the toughest test of his comeback in Mexican heavyweight Carlos “Superman” Sandoval. You can throw out his deceiving record as Sandoval overcame a rugged start in his professional career and has now reeled off six straight victories. In his last bout in January, he scored a second round stoppage of Vincente Silva (18-12-3, 11 KOs).
New Jersey residents will be in for a treat as Trenton’s own former highly touted amateur star and cruiserweight knockout artist Mike Hilton (3-0, 3 KOs), trades punches with debuting Brandon Robinson in a four round contest.
The co-feature of the evening will be an eight round super welterweight contest as New York’s Tommy “The Razor” Rainone (25-7-1, 5 KOs) looks to battle it out with Engelberto Valenzuela of Sonora, Mexico.
Undefeated featherweight Vidal Rivera (4-0, 3 KOs) will square off against Sonora Mexico’s Alberto Serna (2-5, 1KO) in a six round contest.
In four round bouts:
Highly touted middleweight prospect “Sugar Leshawn Rodriquez (4-0, 3 KOs.) of Shirley, New York will take on an opponent to be announced.
Welterweight prospect Andy Gonzalez (3-1,3 KOs) of Worcester, MA looks to bounce back from the first loss of his professional career when he swaps punches with Lionel Charles (0-6-1).
If heavyweights are your bag of choice, then you will like an evenly matched bout as Solomon Maye (1-6-2, 1 KO) of New Haven, CT battles it out with debuting Greg Weathers.
Cherry Hill, New Jersey welterweight Daquan Johnson (2-0, 2 KOs) will tangle with debuting Blaine Donkor of Baltimore, Maryland.
Philly heavyweight Quian Davis (2-0-2, 1KO) by way of Mays Landing, New Jersey will mix it up with debuting Johnathan Hefely.
Cruiserweight Bryan Daniels (1-0) of Worcester, MA looks to duke it out with Jeffersonville, Indiana’s Joshua Flowers (pro debut).
Featherweight Donald Smith (1-0) looks to make the fighting city of Philadelphia, PA proud when he collides with debuting Brandon Lopez of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
