Seconding Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Holly Holm to be bestowed a Mixed Martial Arts belt aside from being former boxing titlist, Filipino pride Jujeath ‘Badgirl’ Nagaowa had been recently crowned as the new atom weight champion at the inaugural event of the World Kickboxing League dubbed as Inception at Hainan, China on June 10.

Albeit trained for the fight at a short notice, Nagaowa’s boxing strikes proved no match for the Thai Kannika Bangnara’s Muay Thai skills at the opening minute. The Badgirl’s newly-learned Jiu Jitsu techniques attested her superiority as she choked out the Thai in the 3rd minute of the very first round.

“I am still dazed about the fight as I was amazed at the fact I am being offered at a world title shot. I told myself this could be the break I had been thinking about since I started MMA almost six years ago, which is to be awarded an MMA belt to put next to my boxing titles” said Nagaowa.

Manager Brico Santig earlier said in an interview he had been in coordination with the United States’ based promotion WKL with the WMMAL for the inauguration of the above mentioned event in China. Talks had it that the promotion is set to see action all over Asia as well as to feature several of Asia’s new breed of Champions.

Meanwhile, fello Filipino Garry Espinar of Octagon MMA Manila submiited Vachayan Khamon via Kimura in the first round as Warrior Academy’s Sasha Paltnikov and Liaoning Free Combat Association’s Li Hao Jie both took the victory in a unanimous decision against Filipinos Jeremy Bastian and Biondi Dayangadang respectively.

China’s Yang Yuanyuan showed her might against Filipina Kathleen Papti-e as the referee stops contest in the first round due to strikes in their straw weight bout.

In the amateur bouts, Malaysia’s Alexander Lew Kuin Shiun of FightFam MMA won his MMA debut against South Korea’s SeongJin Chun in their lightweight match while Lee Wei Long and Chen Yu Xiang each strutted their staff for a win apiece against Ma Bing and Zhang Bin in the flyweight and lightweight division.

WMMAL is setting the stage for their next big event tentatively in Malaysia.
