Last Friday June 30th, the WBC conducted a Ring Officials seminar in Managua, Nicaragua. The seminar took place at Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes (IND).

WBC Referee Hector Afu from Panama and WBC Supervisor Tito Gonzalez from Mexico, gave the seminar to an audience of 68 enthusiastic officials, trainers, managers, and media people, including 4 female ring officials.

This training was part of the homages paid to Alexis Arguello, three-time world champion, on occasion of the 8th anniversary of his passing.

All aspects of the WBC Ring Officials guidelines were covered, paying special attention to the WBC code of ethics. There was a lot of interaction and participation by the attendees.

The WBC would like to express its deepest gratitude to the government of Nicaragua, Vice-President Rosario Murillo, Mayor Daysi Torres, Vice-Mayor Enrique Armas, General Juan Alberto Molinares (Chairman of the Nicaragua Professional Boxing Commission), WBC Representative Bismarck Morales, and Guillermo Arguello (Alexis´s bother and member of the local Commission) for their outstanding support and hospitality.

The seminar was a great success and the WBC keeps giving training to ring officials in different countries to the benefit of our sport.
