YAMANAKA DETERMINED TO DEFEAT NERY IN REMATCH

By WBCboxing.com

Southpaw former World Boxing Council bantamweight champion, Shinsuke Yamanaka (27-1-2 / 18KOs), officially announced that he will return to boxing in a quest to become a champion, all over again.

Yamanaka was a longtime WBC bantamweight king from 2011 until last August 15th, with a total of 12 defences. He lost the crown by technical knockout in the fourth round against Tijuana’s Luis “Pantera” Nery in the city of Kyoto, Japan

On October 31, the WBC ordered a direct rematch between Shinsuke Yamanaka and Luis Nery, after having clarified the issue of a positive doping test by Luis Nery.

Luis Nery is scheduled to fight a 10 rounds non-title bout against the Filipino Arthur “King” Villanueva in Tijuana this Saturday.

Yamanaka commented: “I am happy with the decision of the WBC to have a direct rematch. I’m not satisfied with that fight with Luis Nery. I’m excited to know that I can face Nery again. Based on my mentality and work, I have confidence in gaining revenge.”
