The World Boxing Council bantamweight champion, Shinsuke Yamanaka of Japan, will clash against Mexico’s Luis “Pantera” Nery in order to defend his belt for the 13th time in a fight to be held this Tuesday at the Shimazu Arena. Kyoto, Japan.
The fight is organized by Teiken Promotions and it will be broadcast by Nippon TV in Japan and by Aztecadeportes.com at 5:30 AM.
The official weighing ceremony took place, with Yamanaka and Nery tipping 118 pounds…the exact specified limit of the bantamweight division.
Yamanaka (27-0-2, 19 KOs) bout against Mexican Nery (23-0, 17 KO’s) is hugely important in Japanese boxing, as he could tie the record for the most title defenses for a world champion from Japan.
