Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa are set to fight inside the Octagon — again.
Contracts have yet to be signed, but “Soldier of God” and “Borrachinha” have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 241 in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 17, multiple sources told MMA Fighting. ESPN first reported the news.
Romero and Costa were scheduled to fight on many different dates before, most recently in the main event of UFC Fort Lauderdale in Florida, but the match-up always fell through for different reasons.
The Cuban middleweight, a former title challenger in the UFC, hasn’t fought since losing a split decision to Robert Whittaker on June 2018. Excluding his fights with Whittaker, Romero (13-3) is 9-0 in the UFC with wins over the likes of Lyoto Machida, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman and Ronaldo Souza.
Costa (12-0) last fought on July 2018, when he finished Uriah Hall in the second round. “Borrachinha” currently holds a 4-0 record in the UFC, including a TKO victory over former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
UFC 241 will be headlined by a rematch between heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.
