Unbeaten Japanese lightweight Shuichiro Yoshino 吉野修一郎 (13-0, 10 KO’s) scored a landslide unanimous decision win over veteran compatriot
Valentine Hosokawa 細川繁 (25-8-3, 12 KO’s) today Thursday, September 3, at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo,
Japan.
Official scores were 120-108 and 119-109 (twice) in favor of the 28-year-old Shuichiro Yoshino from Tochigi Province. The referee was the experienced Yuji Fukuchi.
There were no knockdowns throughout the 12-rounds of action, but round after round Yoshino’s dominance was absolutely evident.
So much so that after seven chapters, the only way the 36-year-old Hosokawa could get the win was by knocking out Yoshino. A win by points never as he fall too far behind.
With his clear victory, Yoshino retained his Japanese national title as well as his WBO Asia Pacific & OPBF lightweight belts.
The battle, produced by Misako Promotions, was part of the Diamond Glove Boxing series televised live on Fuji TV.
