Mexican super lightweight  José “Chon” Zepeda, defeated Californian Kendo Castañeda by unanimous decision over 10 rounds, topping the Top Rank bill from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, broadcast by ESPN.

Castañeda, who replaced Russian Ivan Baranchyk in this fight, did a good job showing great heart And diligence, but Zepeda was dominant throughout. The Judges` cards indicated: Tim Cheatham (98-92), Dave Moretti (98-92), and Patricia Morse Jarman (97-93).

In the co-star event, Luis Alberto López (21-2, 11 KOs) scored the most important victory of his career, defeating super featherweight contender Andy Vences (23-2-1, 12 KOs) by a split decision, over ten rounds.

In other results, lightweight prospect Andrés Cortés (13-0, 7 KOs) survived a fourth-round visit to the canvass, to overcome Alejandro Salinas (10-4, 9 KOs) by unanimous decision.

Gabriel Muratalla (4-0, 3 KOs) defeated Sergio López (4-6-3, 0 KOs) by unanimous decision in a four-round bantamweight fight.

Genaro Gamez (10-1, 7 KOs) bounced back from his first career loss with a first-round knockout over Reymond Yanong (11-6-1, 9 KOs) in a welterweight clash.
Lightweight prospect Eric Puente (3-0) beat Diego Elizondo (2-2-2) by majority decision.
