Zepeda KOs Diaz in dramatic fight

In a dramatic fight where both fighters visited the canvas, lightweight Jose “Chon” Zepeda (29-1, 24 KOs) scored a fifth round KO over Carlos “Chuko” Diaz (27-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night on a Zanfer Promotions card at the Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, BC, Mexico.

Diaz dropped Zepeda in round four with a liver shot, but Zepeda managed to survive the round. In the fifth round, Zepeda floored Diaz with a shot to the stomach. Diaz then vomited in the ring while being counted by referee Rafael Ramos and was immediately attended to by the corner and ring physicians.

Zapeda claimed the WBA international lightweight title.
