DAVAO CITY – International Boxing Federation World minimumweight champion Pedro “Kid Pedro Heneral” Taduran Jr. (14W-2L-1D, 11KOs). of Albay will leave on Feb. 11 for Gen. Santos City for his title defense against Rene Mark Cuarto (18W-2L-2D, 11KOs) of Zamboanga del Norte.
Taduran will be accompanied by his trainer former champion Tacy Macalos, assistant trainer Romeo Monis, manager Vilama Acosta, and matchmaker Art Monis.
“Ayus naman po (It’s okay)” said Taduran.
He is sparring with Jonathan Almacen and Cris Ganoza.
“Baka po sa 10 last sparring po (Maybe in the last 10 sparring)” said Taduran.
The 24-year-old Taduran is still maintaining the 53 kgs. weight.
“Di pa kami nag bawas may sparring pa maintain lang 53 kg. (We have not reduced the sparring yet maintain only 53 kg.),” said Art Monis.
Taduran is expected to reach 48 kg. fight weight before the day of the fight on Feb. 27 at the Bula in Gen. Santos City.
It will be his second title defense.
The boxing is promoted by Sen. Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions.
