Groovy Lando will make his return in Las Vegas. Lando Vannata, the man that landed the spinning kick heard ‘round the world at UFC 206 in Toronto earlier this month, has been added to the UFC 209 card on March 4th, taking on David Teymur. UFC officials confirmed the fight earlier today.
Vannata (9-1, 1-1 UFC) made a splash in his UFC short-notice debut, giving top lightweight contender Tony Ferguson one hell of a fight before finally falling in the second round. In his next bout, he landed a flush spinning wheel kick to the face of John Makdessi, knocking him out before he hit the floor. The spectacular finish earned him a performance of the night bonus.
Teymur (5-1, 2-0 UFC) has picked up two straight TKO/KO wins in the UFC after a short run on TUF 23. The last came over Jason Novelli in August.
UFC 209 doesn’t have a headliner yet. A bout between Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem has been proposed for the event, but hasn’t been finalized as of yet.
