Drew Dober and Frank Camacho lit one another up like pinball machines in the opening bout of the UFC on FOX 27 main card.
And while the entertaining welterweight fight Saturday night seemed a tough one to score, the judges in Charlotte felt that the Denver-based Dober did enough. He earned scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 to earn his fourth win in his past five fights.
“Whether it was Frank Camacho or I who got the decision, did we not give you Fight of the Night?” Dober (19-8, 1 NC) asked. “I didn’t care about winning rounds, we just swung and cracked for you guys.”
Camacho tried to turn things into a ground battle in the opening round, as he scored a trip early on and worked for submissions.
But early in the second, Dober started moving forward and swinging, unleashing one straight shot after another. Camacho obliged and landed sneaky sidearm punches. The duo continued this pattern for the better part of 10 minutes until the final horn sounded.
Camacho dropped to 21-6 with his second loss in his past three fights.
