With the news out that Floyd Mayweather will begin training in mixed martial arts with the help of Tyron Woodley, the UFC fighter talks about how he can help give Floyd the best chance to win the octagon by teaching him how to keep it a stand-up fight.
“All I have to do is teach him how to negate the wrestling, teach him how to negate the striking.
”At the beginning of every round, how does the fight start? Standing up. I have to teach him how to keep it there,” he continued.
Woodley would also go on to talk about how long he thinks it’ll take to bring Mayweather far enough along for him to be able to enact these strategies.
“I think three or four months training just to make people go out there and fight a stand-up fight, six to eight months if he wants to go out there and start throwing kicks and takedowns,” added Woodley.
With all the talk swirling about Floyd Mayweather intending to make the crossover into MMA,Las Vegas casinos are already posting odds on a potential rematch with McGregor under MMA rules. Obviously McGregor is the heavy favorite, opening up as a -1000 favorite to beat Mayweather if they fight before September of 2019.
