Heavyweight Jarrell Miller handled his business tonight on HBO, dominating Johann Duhaupas over 12 rounds to take a unanimous decision on official scores of 119-109, 119-109, and 117-111. I also scored the fight 119-109 for Miller on BLH.
Miller started early and had no real problem finding the target and continually strafed Duhaupas with many, many hard shots. For whatever reason though — be it that Miller isn’t a tremendous puncher or Duhaupas just has a tremendous chin, or perhaps a little of both — Miller was unable to knockout Duhaupas or even put him on the canvas.
In the aftermath of the fight Miller credited Duhaupas with being a tough fighter and said that while he was trying to knock him out he was also willing to get some rounds in. He then said that he would love a fight against Anthony Joshua next if that fight happens to present itself.
Final CompuBox stats had Miller landing 261 of 782 total punches (33.4%) with Duhapuas landing 128 of 538 (23.8%)
