Guillermo Rigondeaux will indeed make his PBC debut on January 13th, opening the Fox Sports 1/Fox Deportes broadcast of the Jose Uzcategui-Caleb Plant card in Los Angeles.
BoxRec had originally listed Rigo’s opponent as Daniel Rosas, but The Ring reports that he’ll instead fight Giovanni Delgado (16-8, 9 KO). Delgado has spent his career as a victim to the stars, facing and losing to the likes of JoJo Diaz, Diego De La Hoya, Emmanuel Rodriguez, and Brandon Figueroa. He did flip the script one time, though, scoring a split decision over Cesar Juarez in 2016. That victory was his only one in his last seven fights.
Rigondeaux (17-1, 11 KO), who theoretically turned 38 in September, is winless since breaking Jazza Dickens’ jaw in 2016. His knockout of Moises Flores was overturned due to the punch coming after the bell and he had zero answers for Vasiliy Lomachenko, ultimately bowing out between rounds.
