Justin Scoggins was not successful in his first bout outside the UFC.
Making his debut inside the Rizin Fighting Federation ring in Saitama, Japan, on Monday, after a nine-fight run in the Octagon, Scoggins lost via first-round teepee choke submission to DEEP bantamweight champion Yuki Motoya.
Motoya clipped Scoggins with a heavy hand early on the feet, and quickly locked a triangle choke as soon as the fight went to the ground. Scoggins was trying to survive for a minute, but Motoya transitioned to a teepee choke to force the American to tap.
Scoggins is now on a four-fight losing skid, while Motoya rides a five-fight winning streak with four stoppages.
