ABCEDE TO FIGHT FOR VACANT OPBF MINIMUMWEIGHT TITLE IN JAPAN

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Former WBO Oriental minimumweight champion Jaysever Abcede of Bukidnon will be fighting for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) minimumweight title against undefeated Japanese Tsubasa Koura on July 29 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
“Abcede is now ready to fight. He has prepared for it,” said manager Wowie Lalanto of WLS Gym in Cagayan de Oro City.
The 22-year old Abcede will be accompanied by Lalanto and his son Louie, who is Abcede’s conditioning coach. They will be flying to Japan on July 27.
Abcede, a southpaw is toting a record of 14 wins with 9 knockouts against six defeats. He previously scored a sixth round knockout against Charlie Cabilla last May 27 in Valencia City.
Abcede won the WBO Oriental minimumweight title via an 11th round TKO win over Vicha Phulaikaw in 2015 in Thailand. However, he lost the crown in his first title defense Panya Pradabsri by a unanimous decision at the Sawan Vegas Hotel in Suwannaakhet, Laos.
“Pinabiyahe kami ng matagal at malayong lugar ng promoter kaya’t pagod na pagod na kami ni Abcede pagdating sa venue,” said Lalanto.
Koura, on the other hand, also stopped Thai Thongchai Chaiyonggym in the 2nd round last May 15 in Korakuen Hall. The 22-year old Japanese has a clean record of 10 straight wins with seven knockouts.
Koura has already beaten two Filipino boxers – Bimbo Nacionales (2nd round knockout) and Jeffrey Galero (2nd round TKO) both in 2016.
