ACBJJ 11 full results and video replay: Davi Ramos takes title from Edwin Najmi

Barcelona, Spain was the location of choice for ACBJJ 11 as Davi Ramos and Edwin Najmi battled for the organization’s welterweight title. In what was a back and forth bout, it would be Davi Ramos who would come out on top and take the title home.

Ramos and Najmi battled for position on the feet for much of the fight. Ramos appearing more aggressive as he shot for multiple single legs, but was unable to finish due to Najmi maintaining his balance. In the third round Ramos executed a well-timed armbar that caught Najmi. Najmi grimaced as it appeared the submission was locked in tight, but found a way to remain composed and worked his way out; avoiding the submission. The third round became more contentious when it looked like Najmi was awarded two points for a takedown, but the decision was overturned seconds before the round ended; taking away the two points.

In the fourth round Najmi countered one of Ramo’s single leg attempts to lock up a triangle but was unable to get the finish. These were the most dangerous positions in the contest as they would go five rounds, forcing the judges to make a decision. Ramos was awarded the unanimous decision victory and become the new welterweight champion.
