Philippine superstar and multiple champion Manny Pacquiao will challenge the welterweight champion of the World Boxing Council and the International Boxing Federation, Errol Spence Jr., on Saturday, August 21 at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Manny Pacquiao did a public workout at the “Wild Card” gym in Los Angeles, California, along with his trainers, Freddie Roach and Buboy Fernández.

Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39KOs) has not fought since July 2019, when he defeated Keith Thurman by decision.

Errol Spence is coming off a 12-round unanimous decision win over former two-division champion Danny Garcia last December at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

At the end of training Pacquiao commented:

“I expect a good fight. Spence is an aggressive fighter and I know we can create a lot of action in the ring for all the fans. I have many advantages in this fight. My speed and power, along with my strategy and my team.

“I never imagined being at this point now in my career,  continuing to fight against the best. It is truly a gift that I have received.

“It’s been two years since I’ve been in the ring, and it was good for me to have that break. It helped my body and mind a lot. This time, I am as excited as ever and I feel young and fresh again.

“He could have fought several easy opponents. I chose the best opponent because I want to add more achievements to my legacy. I have to show that I still have more to give in boxing.

“We have a strategy that we know how to use against a southpaw. He wants to fight hand-to-hand and that is going to be an advantage for me. We are prepared for anything. If you want to use his range advantage, we’re ready.

“My family supports me a lot because they know that I want to fight and honor my country. At the same time, I’m also here to show myself that I can still do it at 42.

The fight, which is promoted by the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) series, will be televised on FOX PPV.
