Al Iaquinta ‘can’t stand’ Tony Ferguson, wants to fight him in November

Having not fought since April, UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta wants to return to the Octagon in November against former champion Tony Ferguson.

Iaquinta (13-4-1) last fought at UFC 223 in April, when he filled in for Ferguson on short notice to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, a fight he would lose by unanimous decision. Despite the loss, Ferguson stated he felt Iaquinta exposed parts of Khabib’s game in the fight.

Both Iaquinta and Ferguson have traded shots on social media in recent months, and it now seems Iaquinta is keen to set up a fight with “El Cucuy.” He told Ariel Helwani of ESPN that he is “healthier than he’s been in years” and wants to fight Ferguson on any card taking place in November.

The UFC has a couple of cards taking place in November, most notably UFC 230 on the 3rd, which is currently lacking a main event. A UFC Fight Night will take place in Denver, Colorado on the 10th, then in Argentina on the 17th, then Beijing, China on November 25th, and The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale will conclude the month on the 30th.

Iaquinta was supposed to fight Justin Gaethje next weekend at UFC Fight Night: Lincoln, however the 31-year-old withdrew from the fight in late June.
