[On rating his own performance] I felt I did OK. I didn’t find the groove that I want to find but, hey, sometimes you have your bad days man. That was one of my bad days, I’m fine with it. I lived through it, I fought through it, so back to film study.

[On his slow start] I had to find my groove a little bit. I hadn’t had work like that in a long time. The last time I really trained was for Marquez and I didn’t really train that much for it and that was over two years ago. I needed that work. That’s what and how God wanted me to learn. It’s something that taught me more about myself, what I need to do when I get back in that gym.

[On whether he was thinking too much in the ring] Yeah it was my skillset, I didn’t catch that groove of my skillset and pretty much how I fight and I got sucked into how I usually know how to fight from all the fights from before, the previous fights, it kind of stuck with me a little bit. I got to get back and mentally break through that wall, to get to excel the way that I want to, that I know how that I need to, but I got the W, that’s all that matters right now.

[On looking for the KO early on] I kind of was. I know anyone of those heavy shots man would hurt him but he went with them. It was good work. It was good work, a good learning experience, so I’m blessed, I’m happy.

[If Torres ever hurt him] No, he never hurt me. He never hurt me at all.

[If he thought the fight was close since he was more active in the seventh and eighth rounds] It was close, but I had to convincingly win that fight the last couple of rounds. I didn’t want to leave it up to the judges like that. One judge had it as a draw, I thought I clearly won that fight.

[On where Mile High Mike goes from here] I get that a lot. I think it’s going to help excel me in helping make the adjustments I know I need to make for myself when I do get back into training so maybe a better, stronger tune-up, someone a little bit more crafty a little bit more skillset. We’ll see. We’ll go back to the drawing board with Top Rank. We will stay busy. We will stay focused and keep doing the best I can.
