Amir Khan to return in September, Brook in December?

Badlefthook.com

Eddie Hearn has told ESPN that Amir Khan will return to the ring on the first weekend in September, so Saturday, September 1 (or maybe September 8, who knows), and that a fight with Kell Brook is possible for December.

Khan (32-4, 20 KO) returned to action on April 21 in Liverpool, thrashing Phil Lo Greco in just 39 seconds, his first fight since a crushing KO loss to Canelo Alvarez in 2016.

Now, the 31-year-old will probably look at another tune-up type of fight in September before the potential clash with Brook (37-2, 26 KO) late in the year, but there’s still plenty of hang-up there, too.

For one, Brook is now campaigning at 154 pounds, and is expected to return in late July, possibly on the Whyte-Parker pay-per-view card in the United Kingdom. And Khan has said that any fight with Brook has to take place at welterweight, where Khan is fighting after his brief move up to a catchweight against Alvarez.

But if they both win again, there would be pretty substantial money in a Khan-Brook fight, and Khan did fight Lo Greco at a 150 catchweight, but that was without any real fear that Lo Greco could beat him. We really don’t know until those sides actually sit down and talk. For now, it’s what it’s always been: media hype and discussion, nothing more.

With Khan set to return in September, who would you like to see him face? Or what sort of name do you think we might see?
