Bare Knuckle FC medical suspensions: Three fighters out with potential broken hands

UFC veterans Bec Rawlings and Johnny Bedford highlighted a list of three fighters to be issued indefinite medical suspensions as a result of potentially broken hands in the aftermath of Saturday’s historic Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event. Ten fighters in total were issued indefinite medical suspensions for various potential injuries.

The Wyoming State Board of Mixed Martial Arts released the event’s finalized medical suspension report Tuesday to MMA Fighting.

Rawlings and Bedford scored second-round TKO wins at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship over Alma Garcia and Nick Mamalis respectively, both emerging victorious from the first state-sanctioned bare-knuckle event in the United States in 130 years. As a result of potential hand fractures sustained in the contest, both O’Rawlings and Bedford will be forced to seek doctor’s clearance before returning to active competition, per Wyoming commission officials.

The eight other fighters who received similar indefinite medical suspensions were: Joey Beltran(face lacerations), Tony Lopez (face and ear lacerations), Garcia (fractured nose and face lacerations), Irineu Beato Costa Jr. (potential concussion), Mamalis (left eye laceration), Reggie Barnett (right and left hand fractures), Travis Thompson (left eye laceration), and DJ Linderman (left eye laceration).

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship took place June 2 at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The night’s main card aired live on pay-per-view.
