BENAVIDEZ CONVINCINGLY WINS RE-MATCH WITH GAVRIL

By WBCboxing.com

David “Red Flag” Benavidez successfully defend his WBC super middleweight crown defeating Romanian Ronald Gavril by a wide margin UD, in their rematch, at the Mandaly Bay Las Vegas, Nevada.

Much anticipation about this second helping, mainly and of course because in September of last year these warriors fought a keen and close contest. On that occasion, David Benavidez was proclaimed the youngest super middleweight champion in the entire history of the sport by defeating Gavril with a split decision.

Gavril arrived, grimly and gamely determined to continue what he did in the last round of their first combat, by sending his opponent to the canvas. However, Benavidez convincingly proved why he is the absolute champ by imposing himself, winning by the wide scorecard margin of 120-108 twice and 119-108. His accurate and hard left jab, followed up by combinations and some clouting body shots were very effective. The highlight was round four when a huge right uppercut wobbled Gavril, who very nearly went down.

David Benavidez left the ring with a professional mark of 20 wins with 17 KO’s, while Gavril left the ring with a record of 18 wins with 14 KO’s and 3 losses.
