Two-time former super middleweight world champion, and undefeated Mexican David “Red Flag” Benavidez, will face former world champion, José Uzcategui, in a World Boxing Council super-middleweight eliminatory on August 28, at the Phoenix Suns Arena, Arizona.

This will be the second fight for Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) since he lost the WBC 168-pound world title on the scales in August of last year.

In his most recent bout, Benavidez defeated American Ronald Ellis by TKO in the eleventh round last March in Uncasville, Connecticut.

José Uzcategui (31-4, 26 KOs) reigned as IBF super-middleweight champion since March 2018, when he defeated former champion Andre Dirrell, before losing by decision against reigning champion Caleb Plant in 2019.

In his most recent fight, Uzcategui defeated Mexican Jaime Hernández by knockout in the second round last June.

The card is promoted by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and will be broadcast on Showtime.
