CALLUM SMITH: I THINK MY RIGHT HAND WILL BE TOO HARD FOR HIM

Callum Smith is eager to return to the ring as he prepares to take on Sweden’s Erik Skoglund in the quarter finals of the World Boxing Super Series
The pair clash on September 16 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool with the victor progressing to the semi-finals with the WBC Diamond title around their waste.
Speaking exclusively to WBN, ‘Mundo’ admitted he understood the task front of him:
“It’s been a long time, too long. It’s good to be back in the big fights, I know if I don’t turn up, I’ll lose and they’re the fights that get the best out of me.
“I love fighting in Liverpool; I put on my best performances in Liverpool. With some people, rather fight at home or play to the crowd and don’t perform at all.
“It’s about sticking to then plan but also putting on a show for the fans and hopefully I can do the same on September 16 and put on a show for the fans whilst also picking up the WBC Diamond title and going into the semi-finals,” he added.
However, the youngest boxer from the Smith family believes his rival will be a tricky customer ahead of fight night despite knowing little about his opponent.
“I didn’t before the tournament, as he and been a light-heavyweight so I never paid any attention until the draft and then I’ve watched a bit more of him.
“He’s a good all-rounder who does the basics right and is a fighter who will bring the best out of me.
The 27-year-old has vowed to blow the Swede away though.
He concluded: “I think my right hand will be too hard for him but I’ve prepared for twelve tough rounds and it’s good to be in the training camp with a risky fight with a big prize at the end of it.”
