Mexican superstar Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and the much taller British world champion Callum Smith weighed-in at identical 168 pounds ahead of their hot battle for WBA/WBC world titles tomorrow (Dec 20 here in Asia) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. 🔥🔥

Both 30 year-old men looked in excellent shape, laser-focused on the important battle they are about to wage. For Canelo, 31, a spectacular win, would put on top of most lists pound4pound lists.

Britain’s Smith has long sought this match with Canelo and he is finally got it. Will he be able to shock the world by beating the hugely popular Canelo, he he has predicted?

Canelo (53-1-2, 36 KOs), who has been a world champion in 4 different divisions, has recently became a free agent, after a legal battle with his now former promoter Golden Boy and with streaming service DAZN, which will be the one to broadcast the event worldwide.

The Mexican superstar will in be fighting mode for the 1st time since ravaging tough Sergey Kovalev a year ago in Las Vegas, snatching the WBO light heavyweight world title from the Russian “Krusher,” becoming champion in four different weight-classes.

Canelo defeated 🇬🇧 Smith’s longtime foe and fellow Liverpool fighter 🇬🇧 Rocky Fielding in December 2018 to claim the WBA regular belt at 168 pounds, which was his 3rd world championship win, consolidating his dominance of the middle to super middleweights.

Meanwhile, 🇬🇧 Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KO’s) has landed the biggest, far most lucrative fight of his life, the one that would propel the Britton to international fame and would crown him as the world’s very best at 168.

Nicknamed “Mundo,” which has something to do with his childhood fave character the Ninja Turrles, Smith captures the WBA World Title with a 7th round knockout victory over British compatriot, George Groves in the final of the WBSS in Sep of 2018 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Callum has defended his belt 2 times since that stellar win, stopping Hassan N’Dam in New York in June 2019, and then beating John Ryder in his hometown of Liverpool 5 months later.

So importantly, Smith will also seek family revenge as Canelo defeated his brother, Liam Smith, 4 years ago in Texas.

🇲🇽 Canelo vs 🇬🇧 Callum Smith is promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing live on DAZN.
